Legal and business resources for photographers.
The Association of Photographers, often referred to colloquially as the AOP, is a trade association for British & European professional photographers predominantly, but also has members based globally.
Formed in London in 1968 as the Association of Fashion and Advertising Photographers by a small group of photographers united by a common aim to challenge the then unreasonable demands of model agencies, it brought together professional photographers in order to protect their rights and promote photography. The AOP book, Beyond the Lens, is seen as an important guide to rights, ethics and best business practice in professional photography.
“The Association's aims are: to promote and protect the worth and standing of its members, to vigorously defend, educate and lobby for the interests and rights of all photographers, especially in the commercial photographic industry.”
